Project description

We began with one use case strategy: tap into the demand for live data. Want to see how long the TSA line is at the airport before you leave the house? Drop some bitcoin at the location, and someone can answer with a video of the crowd.

Research & Planning

Vevue was conceived as a demand-driven peer-to-peer exchange. As a lean team, I conducted all user research to understand the viability of the use case. I traveled to countless destinations, evangelizing blockchain and teaching people how to use our app. I gained insights in real-time as planned our roadmap.

Design & Prototyping

Early explorations in blockchain technology opened opportunities for remittance free payments.

Development & Implementation Challenges

Following success of alpha testing, we built a developer team based in Shanghai, China to launch a beta version. Communication barriers and development issues were mititgated by spending time in China with our team. Our efforts that didn't stop the many bugs and blackchain breakdowns along the way.

Early-stage blockchains were brittle and ever-changing. We moved blockchain architecture three times to accommodate transaction capabilities and lower barriers to entry for audiences.

Reduced Barriers to Entry

Early-stage blockchain required 3rd party KYC, often making the UX flows feel suspicious. To lower this barrier, we focused on easy client onboarding.

Familiar UX/UI

We leveraged familiar UX flows from popular social media sites.

Alpha and beta versions reached 3.5k users, with a ⭐️ 4.7-star rating on the Apple and Android app stores. We were too early in understanding product market fit before pivoting to launch Vevue Premium, a feature focused on a supply-driven transactional model for creatives such as filmmakers and multimedia artists.

0-1 Guiding Principles

  1. Deepen your understanding of who you’re speaking to. Not just demographics — what do they believe? What do they fear? What are they trying to solve today?

  2. Stay authentic to your voice. It’s tempting to chase coverage, funding, or “big breaks,” but if the story isn’t true to your product and people, it will fall flat.

Agile Refinement

If I were to lead this project today, I would continue to refine the Request system.

  1. I would begin off-blockchain to user test ideas and validate use cases.

  2. I would then canvas blockchains to assess viability of the technology.

  3. Finally, I would seek to levergage the new technology to enhance the user experience.

Launching new features that diverted away from the core concepts so early before gaining product market fit was unnecessary.
